he brought back many photos of their times together at tea time and lunch breaks
that they had in-between their painting sessions.
And in France they always had wine with everything! Peace Lily plants are very popular in Florida.
Vavrina had several at the studio which he used for inspiration for this pretty painting. This old green pitcher, which we always used at the studio,
gave Vavrina the inspiration to paint this dramatic painting. Vavrina's use of bold colors and dramatic brush strokes brings life into this beautiful little still-life. Here again is a beautiful display of Vavrina's bold color and brush-stroke use. One of the few watercolors Vavrina did still shows his use of bright colors.
Vavrina's inspiration for this painting was a large painting over the bed at a hotel he and his wife stayed in.
So, he came home and said, "I'm going to paint an over-the-couch couch painting."
Our Large Painting link, at the bottom of the page, will show you more over-sized paintings. Vavrina's quick brush strokes produced this striking little painting. Vavrina's use of monocramatic blues with just a touch of complementary orange
gives this painting a cool, calming feel. Often Vavrina would take whatever paint was left on his palette and make a painting out of it, hence the title.
A lady visiting the studio asked Vavrina to paint something, so he did, and named it after her. Vavrina's smallest of his Sunflower series. Vavrina's and his wife had fresh flowers at home regularly giving him lots of beautiful inspiration. Vavrina's little figurine on the table beside the bouquet gave this painting it's name. The largest canvas in Vavrina's "Flowers on Windowsill" series, the smallest is 12"x9",
this bright acrylic painting would command attention in any setting.
For more over-sized paintings, see below for our Large Paintings page. Vavrina's abstraction of this still life diffuses the flowers into swatches of color.
For more Abstract Landscapes see our link at bottom of page. Vavrina spied a cart-load of flowers by the road and painted this lively scene.
He gets his inspiration for paintings from all his surroundings. Vavrina's bright, abstractly painted version of large glasses and bottles reminds a person of old apothecary bottles. This acrylic on linen painting would fit very well in a doctor's office. Vavrina caught the exuberance of these wild, spiraling sprigs of bright blooms that grow in his backyard.
This unusual bush produces flowers of more than one color. Another colorful addition to Vavrina's "Flowers in Window" series. Vavrina's maxim of light-against-dark and the use of primary colors on this oil painting give it a glow that would beautify any home Vavrina was given a vase of sunflowers sparking a series of sunflower paintings.
